Wates Group announces The Conservation Volunteers as new charity partner
The Wates Group has today announced a charity partnership with The Conservation Volunteers (TCV), the community volunteering charity. The three-year partnership follows a selection process and comes as Wates’ previous corporate charity partnership, with The Prince’s Trust, comes to an end. Over the past four years, Wates employees, supported by Wates Giving, the charitable programme run by the Wates Family Enterprise Trust, have raised over £360,000 for the charity, exceeding the original fundraising target, and helping nearly 600 disadvantaged young people gain access to employment or training. Wates will work with TCV to help raise funds in support of the charity’s vision of creating healthier and happier communities for everyone. It will also help TCV to extend its reach, to help transform more of Britain’s green spaces. Established as a national charity in 1959, TCV is an expert in leading volunteers in conservation activities, supporting people to create, protect and improve green spaces to benefit nature and the local community. TCV’s conservation activities have always varied but its inclusive approach has remained consistent; as has its focus on bringing people and places together to create healthier and happier communities for everyone. A key part of the partnership will be the opportunity for Wates employees to take part in volunteering on TCV projects, not only supporting TCV’s conservation work, but also helping to improve employees’ health and well-being. Wates are committed to supporting and strengthening the communities in which they live and work. Everything they do is shaped by their conviction that business should be a force for good. The values of The Conservation Volunteers fit perfectly with their own and with their ethos of sustainability. By partnering with TCV, everyone in Wates will have opportunities to volunteer on projects across the country, transforming green spaces, creating better environments and helping individuals improve their mental health. Wates are excited about the opportunities working with TCV will provide and are looking forward to getting involved and making a real difference.” David Allen, Chief Executive, Wates Group Wates have incredible enthusiasm and expertise when it comes to raising valuable funds for good causes, and I’m absolutely thrilled that they have chosen TCV to be their new charity partner. Across the UK, we see people and green spaces facing some enormous challenges right now – with Wates’ valuable support we’ll be able to deliver more of our important work for the benefit of both.” Darren York, Chief Executive, TCV
