Ibstock plc Launches Charity Partnership with Shelter
Yesterday was a special day for Ibstock as, for the first time in our history, Charity Champions from around the group joined together at a special event in Loughborough to select a charity partner. The Champions heard from two shortlisted charities, Crisis and Shelter, and one charity was to be chosen for Ibstock to partner with over the next 2 years to raise funds for their cause. After hearing compelling presentations from each charity, the Champions were able to chat through their decisions over lunch and cast their vote for their preferred one. Charity Champion and CAD Designer from Leicester, Irina (Rae) Hughes, commented: “It was a really tough decision. Both charities were fantastic and their presentations were really compelling. It was hard to know which one to choose.” With the deadline looming, Champions cast their final votes allowing the totting up to take place. And close though it was, Shelter came out as the clear winner. The company will look to reach a target of £50k, with £25k met through fundraising activity and £25k matched by the company, over the coming 12 months. Group Continuous Improvement & Sustainability Director, Mark Brind, said: “I’m delighted with the outcome and looking forward to formulating a strong partnership with Shelter. Community is a vital component of our Sustainability Roadmap; supporting and strengthening our communities, generating growth and opportunity is important for our future and homelessness is an increasing problem across our country. We are uniquely positioned through our products, skills and fundraising to be able to make a difference.” Charity Champions will play a key role in helping drive fundraising activity and will be in touch on your site to help get the ball rolling and start the fun!
