Ansvar Insurance announces £225,000 funding for three youth charities

Ansvar Insurance, a leading insurer for the charity, not-for-profit, care and faith sectors, has announced the three charities that will each receive £75,000 over the next three years as part of its Programme of Giving initiative.

Sussex-based Esteem, Oxfordshire-based TRAIN, and London and Manchester-based Hand in Hand were selected for their exceptional work in supporting children and young people to make positive lifestyle choices.

Esteem provides a range of services, including counselling, work experience opportunities and life skills workshops, enabling young people aged 14-26 to realise their value and potential. Ansvar’s funding will support Esteem’s Positive Change Programme, which will help young people manage emotions, build social skills and improve mental wellbeing. Additionally, it will deliver courses in activities such as boxing, football and surfing, and connect young people with trained youth workers for tailored guidance.

TRAIN focuses on reaching young people through detached youth work. By meeting young people where they are – in parks, town centres and other public spaces – TRAIN can provide immediate and non-judgmental assistance. Ansvar’s support will enable the charity to double its impact, reaching 400 young people each year by expanding detached youth work sessions to underserved areas, increasing the frequency of their outreach sessions and developing a tailored pathway programme for young people.

Hand in Hand aims to shift young people's perspectives towards altruism by providing hands-on volunteering opportunities. This approach encourages teenagers and young adults to engage with and support those in need within their communities, helping to develop crucial life skills, such as compassion and resilience. The funding from Ansvar will support Hand in Hand's core activities, including enhancing training and support for volunteers and expanding its outreach efforts to improve the emotional wellbeing of volunteers and service users.

Sarah Cox, Managing Director of Ansvar, commented:

“We are delighted to support Esteem, TRAIN and Hand in Hand as they continue their vital work with young people. This initiative is more than just a donation – it is a partnership. We understand the significant financial pressures facing charities, and we hope this funding will support these organisations in expanding their reach and sustaining their impact. We look forward to staying closely connected with each charity and witnessing the difference they make in young lives.

“Our Programme of Giving extends beyond monetary donations. It encompasses our Community Hub, a free and bookable office space in our Brighton offices, available to local charities and not-for-profit organisations, as well as a colleague volunteering and fundraising initiative and our three-year cycle of grant-giving.”

Ansvar is a member of the Benefact Group, a charity-owned specialist in financial services. As the UK’s third-largest corporate donor, the Benefact Group strengthens Ansvar’s dedication to supporting the wider charitable community.
