Europcar renews partnership with Matt Hampson Foundation
Donated van covered 12,000 miles in first year as partnership continues to provide essential logistical support
Following a highly successful first year working together, Europcar Mobility Group UK and the Matt Hampson Foundation have renewed their partnership for 2025. The Europcar Mercedes Sprinter donated to the Foundation has already covered more than 12,000 miles and will continue to provide essential logistical support for the charity’s events and day-to-day operations.
In 2025 Europcar will also be supporting the Foundation on team building days at the Get Busy Living Centre, as well as offering premium rates for beneficiaries' friends and families. Europcar will also make a donation for every vehicle rental booking made using the supporter rate.
Former England Under 21s Rugby Union player, Matt Hampson OBE, started the Foundation after an accident in training in 2005 left him with life-changing injuries. The Foundation aims to inspire and support young people seriously injured through sport and counts Mike Tindall MBE as its patron, as well as a roll call of professional rugby players, other sports people and celebrities as its ambassadors.
The co-branded long wheelbase van supplied by Europcar has helped the Melton Mowbray based Foundation transfer an assortment of materials to fundraising and awareness events throughout the year, including a 100-mile sponsored walk, the UK’s first adaptive cross-fit event exclusively for wheelchair users and the London Marathon. It has also been invaluable in moving essential equipment, including a Paragolfer buggy which provides mobility on any golf course; very few golf courses have this specialist equipment available.
“The work of the Matt Hampson Foundation is inspirational and we are delighted to be able to continue helping with the logistics through the supply of our vehicle”, said Gary Smith, Managing Director, Europcar Mobility Group UK. “As a busy organisation, committed to helping people who have suffered life-changing injuries to carry on living full lives, access to a suitable vehicle is critical. With its co-branding, the van not only helps with day-to-day mobility but also raises awareness of the Foundation’s work wherever it goes.”
Matt Hampson OBE added, “Europcar has become a valued partner of the Foundation. As well as allowing us to direct more of our funding into helping beneficiaries, the kind donation of the van means we can help young people who are getting busy living after life-changing injury. It enables us to move equipment where people need it most as well as support fundraising and awareness events all over the country.”
The Foundation organises experience days as part of its ‘get busy living’ ethos, to provide opportunities after life-changing injury. These include water-skiing, go-karting and adaptable mountain bikes, all of which require equipment to be transported to/from the Get Busy Living Centre in Leicestershire and which, without the Europcar van, would prove extremely difficult. The van has also been vital for regular local deliveries and collections to support the work of the Centre as well as getting equipment repaired. Previously such transport would have incurred courier costs; access to the Europcar van means the Foundation can spend more of its income on supporting beneficiaries.
